Why We Changed Our Name

Christian Care Association has been helping the homeless in the area of Chichester and Bognor Regis since 1989, when a homeless person died in a public toilet in Chichester.

Reverend Hilary Parsons founded the charity at the time and we have had a lot of fantastic church support since then.

Name change

CCA has embarked upon a marketing/public relations strategy, which includes the rebranding of the charity so that we can stay competitive in what is a very competitive market place. We have to compete against far more popular causes such as children, animals and hospices in an environment where the amount of money available is declining. The charity has a turnover of £1.5 million and employs 50 staff; a not insignificant amount of money and people. We will continue to demonstrate our desire to embrace diversity, all faith and cultures. Our services and our values will not change, only our operating name. The company name remains as ‘St Richard of Chichester Christian Care Association’.

Stonepillow

Stonepillow has been the name of our website for a few years and we feel it creates a strong image in the mind, when you hear or read it, of people having to use a stone literally as a pillow.  It also suggests a contrast of a cold, hard, grey stone which is the reality for so many unfortunate people and a supporting pillow – which symbolises the charity!

We have chosen Stonepillow as our new operating name.  The sound of our new name and the design of our logo is very modern, which we hope will put us on the map and appeal to a wider group of supporters who want to help us in our work.

We will carry on providing support to homeless and vulnerable people, to enable them to regain their dignity and independence. Stonepillow will open doors to wider funding streams and exciting corporate opportunities in order to improve our range of services.

The main goal is to move forward, reach further and keep focused on the reality that charities are a business and have to compete like a business, in order to survive. We have a strong professional workforce who embraces change because we want the best for our service users.

We trust that our supporters will understand that our beliefs will remain the same and that their help is so greatly appreciated.
