We are happy to announce that a successful bid for a 4-year grant from the Big Lottery Fund has been received. The Restore Project faced a major setback in May 2010 when an agreed leasehold on a Bognor warehouse fell through at the last minute. But we refused to be disheartened by this development and, ever ambitious, we continued to actively search for alternative premises, confident that we could find a unit that is even better suited to our needs than the previous one. We are now in the later stages of negotiation for a new lease in the busy retail area of Terminus Road, Chichester, and hope to be operational there by October 2010 with a planned launch for Spring 2011.
Another key development is the recruitment of 3 new members of staff. We have a new Project Manager, Mark Lyons and an Engineer, Derek Ockenden. We continue to employ a very loyal and dedicated team of volunteers. Without our volunteers there would be no Restore Project. They work extremely hard in the Restoration of your donated items, Collections and Deliveries, Administration and Inventory Control. All of the staff each bring a wealth of experiences and skills sets to the project to move it onto the next phase. As the very first staff team dedicated exclusively to Stonepillow Restore our new recruits will have an exciting and challenging time ahead!
We have been overwhelmed by the support and generosity of local individuals donating furniture, white goods and electrical items to The Restore Project and we want to say a BIG thank you to everyone that has donated so far. We have now secured our very own vehicle, the first in our 'Fleet' and can now be more flexible in deliveries and collections.
If you are interested in buying any restored furniture, household items or white goods or if you are interested in volunteering for The Restore Project please contact us at mlyons@stonepillow.org.uk or call Mark Lyons on 07595 412131
Watch this space for the project launch in brand new premises in the coming months!
