Stonepillow announce the launch of Foot Prints!

Stonepillow announce the launch of “Foot Prints”, a community magazine written by individuals who experience issues surrounding homelessness.

“Foot Prints” tackles issues such as, addiction, homelessness, service awareness and community interaction but unlike other publication it does this from the unique stand point of those who have and in some cases still are, experiencing these things first hand.

“Foot Prints” was the brain child of Brian Morgan, who is in being supported by Stonepillow in recovery from alcoholism and is accessing their Move-On Accommodation, “Nothing can prepare you for what you will experience living on the streets. I was lucky to receive the support I needed from Stonepillow and with their help I have turned my life around. I wanted to ensure that others in the situation I was in, know what help is available to them and how to access it. I also wanted to help educate society and build awareness amongst statutory services such as the Police, of the challenges faced by those of us on the streets”.

After running his idea past support workers at Sands, Mr Morgan formed a steering group that over the past weeks has taken “Foot Prints” from concept to reality, with the 1st issue being launched on Wed 11th March 2009, at the St. Martins Day Centre , Bognor Regis.

The steering group includes; copy writers, artists and an editor all of which are currently accessing support from Stonepillow’s Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre (Sands). Tim Hurrell, PR & Fundraising Manager for Stonepillow said, “We’re really excited about the magazine launch. It’s really great to see our clients sharing their success stories and actively putting something back into society. We’re proud to have been able to support Mr Morgan and his team in producing the 1st issue and are keen to ensure the magazine continues well into the future”.

When asked what affect the Magazine has had on Sands residents, Chris Green, Sands Project Manager said; “The magazine has built enthusiasm amongst our clients particularly motivating those in the early stages of recovery. We commend the individuals involved and look forward to many more editions and more clients from Sands and the Day Centres becoming involved”.

The launch will take place at 2pm next Wednesday and carries an open invitation to all members of the Press, partner organisations, local authorities and Police to attend.
