Christian Care Association works with single homeless
in the Chichester and Bognor areas of West Sussex. It runs a 12
bedded emergency access night refuge (10 for men and two for women)
on the outskirts of Chichester and a Day Centre in the centre of
Chichester which also houses an Addiction Counsellor and a Resettlement
service, assisting clients back into accommodation and employment.
It also runs a house for young unaccompanied asylum seekers aged
16 to 18. Around 250 people access our services each year.
We have been fortunate in receiving a continuation grant from the
Community Fund, running from April 02 to March 05, which will enable
us to increase our staffing levels to include a Life Skills Tutor
and a Mental Health Worker.
The organisation is managed by a group of trustees who meet at
regular intervals both as a main board and in a series of sub-committees.

Volunteering
with CCA
In addition to the paid staff at the different projects,
the organisation relies heavily on volunteers to work alongside
them. At the Night Refuge, volunteers assist with the evening meal,
both cooking and clearing up. Other volunteers assist with organising
the generous donations of food, clothing, linen and other items,
whilst yet others help with administration.
At the Day Centres, volunteers work alongside the Day Centre staff,
befriending clients, helping them with form filling and assisting
with literacy and numeracy skills. Some volunteers also work with
our Resettlement service working to house clients, and support them
once housed.
We are always looking for more volunteers to work in various areas,
including fundraising (manning stalls, assisting with flag days
etc). For further information click
here or contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Sylvie
Johnston at the above address or telephone 01243 537934.
